The four questions that make a calculation real can only be answered on the plot. The ask travels down to get there.
An invitation is a request, not access. Every figure is labelled primary or modelled, a plot that lapses leaves the removals, and producers never pay.
How it works
Watch one plot through two seasons.
The same plot as the regenerative programme, carrying the same number, measured twice. Two products: the Field App the producer and agent carry, and the Dashboard the calculation runs in.

The activity data comes off the plot.
Fertiliser, fuel, residue handling and what was planted, recorded on PLOT-1182 by the person standing on it. This is the same plot record the regenerative programme opened.

The calculation shows its working.
Cool Farm runs on the recorded data, and every figure is labelled with where it came from. A reviewer can see which numbers are measured and which are modelled before trusting the total.

Removals only count if the trees are still there. The recheck that the regenerative programme runs is the same visit that keeps this figure honest.

This plot is the same PLOT-1182 that appears in the regenerative programme and again in Scope 3. One plot record, handed along the chain rather than rebuilt three times.
The inputs, and who gives them
Fill every field the calculator asks for.
This is the honest version of a carbon programme. Some inputs are already in the plot record, some are one question added to a visit the producer already makes, and a few have to be modelled. Coverage is shown per field, because a footprint built on 30% coverage is not a footprint.
The rate is a number a producer can be asked for once. The photograph is what makes it checkable.

Deltas are modelled per kilo of green coffee, not measured. What is measured is the right-hand column: the plots where the practice was recorded, with a photograph, a date and the name of whoever recorded it.
Attribution
Attach the footprint to the lot, not the country.
Because plots are tied to deliveries and deliveries to lots, the emissions of the farms that actually grew a shipment travel with that shipment. Your buyer books your number rather than a national average, and their Scope 3 stops being a guess.

The Cool Farm Alliance built a good one and it is not worth rebuilding. Tracebud is the layer underneath: the plots, the practices, the inputs and the volumes, captured where the farming happens and exported in the shape the tool wants. This is a programme you choose to run, not a compliance requirement.

Cool Farm Tool and the Cool Farm Alliance are independent of Tracebud, and their methodology governs any number it produces. The same activity data exports to whatever tool your buyer or auditor requires.
Upstream, a regenerative agriculture programme is often what moves this number. Downstream, a footprint calculated here is exactly what a Scope 3 Category 1 disclosure consolidates.

Questions we get.
Do you calculate the footprint yourselves?+
No. We collect and hold the activity data and export it in the shape a calculator expects. The Cool Farm Tool is the one most of our users work with, because it is built on IPCC methodology and covers greenhouse gases, water and biodiversity from the same farm inputs.
Smallholders will not know their fertiliser rates.+
Some will not, and pretending otherwise is why these programmes fail. What works is recording the purchase: a photograph of the bag, the quantity, the date, in the producer’s own language, at the moment it happens. Coverage is then a number you can see rather than assume.
Can we report removals from shade trees?+
You can record them, per plot, with the tree count and the canopy check behind them. Whether and how they enter a report is a matter for the accounting standard you follow; we keep gross emissions and removals separate so the choice stays yours.
What if our buyer uses a different tool?+
The same activity data exports for it. That is the point of holding the underlying records rather than a calculated result: the number can be recalculated when the methodology moves, which it does every couple of years.
Collect the data once. Use it everywhere.
One season of plot-level activity data serves a carbon footprint, a regenerative programme, a Scope 3 inventory and a deforestation file. Collecting it four times is why none of them ever gets finished.
